Danville’s George Gouard Playing Well
December 11, 2004

Written by Pat Benninger

6’0” senior point guard of Danville, George Gouard is playing to get his name out this year. He’s a quick and athletic guard that uses his speed and ball handling skills to break defense down and get the two points by scoring himself or dishing the ball.

George is the younger brother of Loyola University star point guard, DaJuan Gouard. He has made great strides since last season improving him ball handling, defense, and ability to play in pressure situations. Last season he was merely a junior dressing on varsity while this year he is their star player.

So far, Gouard has led Danville to a 2-3 record against some very good teams including Champaign Central and Bloomington. Danville should be one of the better teams in the Big 12 once the season really gets in motion.

Other players looking to make a name for themselves on the Vikings include state ranked, senior-Travis Albright, junior-Andreas Coleman, and sophomore-Jonathon Reed. Gouard rates as the number seven point guard in the class of 2005 according to MidStateHoops.com.
