MacArthur‘s Rick Slaw Beginning A Breakout Season
December 16, 2004

Written by Pat Benninger

6’3” wing of Decatur MacArthur, Rick Slaw, has gone from an unknown to a top notch prospect in the class of 2006. Combining athleticism and aggressive scoring capabilities, Slaw rates as a top 30 prospect in his class according to MidStateHoops.com.

Slaw started off the season against Limestone with a 25 point game. Corinthian Carson and his cousin, C.J. Carson, a Decatur Eisenhower transfer, were expected to be the Generals’ leading scorer, but Rick decided to take matters into his own hands. Last season, Rick started on the sophomore team and averaged over 20 points per contest but on dressed varsity because of attitude problems. This season, he made the adjustments and is now the varsity’s star player.

Rick is currently averaging 19.43 points, has had a low of 9, against Decatur Eisenhower, and a high of 25, scored twice against Limestone and Springfield. Following his efforts is senior, Corinthian Carson, averaging 11.3 points per game. Though the Generals are down with a 2-5 record, they are looking to start off with a clean slate after the new year begins.

Other top players from Decatur MacArthur include seniors, Corinthian Carson and C.J. Carson, junior, Kari Coleman (currently averaging 10.6 ppg), and sophomores, McKenzie Goodman and Theo Calvert.
